Dikatakan Pindah/Beralih dari Linux ke Mac? Tentu Tidak!

Baru-baru ini, terutama saya sering mendengar beberapa komentar yang mengatakan kl banyak tukang oprek Linux yang skrg beralih ato “membelot” ke Mac.

Saya ingin menjawab berdasarkan alasan saya sendiri:

1. Saya masih kerja dan hidup dari Linux, krn saya adalah seorang SysAdmin dengan spesialiasi Linux, dan Unix … nah sisanya OS cemen :p

2. Saya pake Mac sebagai alat kerja mobile … alias pilih model Notebook yang bernama MacBook (dulu iBook).
Knp saya akhirnya lebih suka pake Mac?
a. MacOS X itu adalah UNIX juga … which is *gaya gawul* …. gak jauh beda ama kerja di Linux
b. Produk Apple itu indah2 gitu loh … secara fisik
c. MacBook / iBook itu murah meriah … bayangin aja harga dengan spek en fitur yang sama … trus ini brand terkenal, bisa gitu dapet laptop intel dengan kondisi yg sama harga yg menarik jg ?
d. GUI Mac OS X, jauh lebih enak dibanding Linux … dan bisa dibilang lebih baik drpd Windows jg
e. Aplikasi2 di MacOS X pd umum nya lebih lengkap, lebih enak … lebih kompatible ke Windows dan cenderung lebih enteng dan stabil dijalankan … *ini relatif sekali*
f. Batere MacBook/iBook lebih baik drpd laptop2 lainnya

3. Apa yg saya kerjakan di MacBook ?
a. Buka beberapa terminal … ssh ke server2 … yg semua nya Linux, dan sebagian emang Terminal untuk Mac sendiri
b. Cek email, pake Thunderbird
c. Browsing pake Safari (lebih enteng drpd Firefox menurutku, dan lebih nyaman dilihat)
d. Adium yang jauh lebih enak dipake daripada Gaim
e. Dan yang jelas Multimedia bisa dengan gampang dan nyaman sekali dinikmati di Mac.

4. Mac lebih praktis!
a. Kl mo install dan uninstall aplikasi ya tinggal drag and drop aja …
b. Mo backup HD bisa lsg diclone ke external HD, en bisa kapan2 boot lsg dr external HD
c. Sekali install OS, sebagian besar kebutuhan sudah terpenuhi … paling nambah aplikasi2 dikit … dan milihnya jg gak ribet, gak perlu yum2an, tp kl mau sih msh bisa jg … en kl udah pernah download, tinggal disimpen di sebuah tempat, dan bisa kapan aja dicopy dan lsg pakai … jadi kl perlu install ulang komputer … paling cuman butuh 1 jam, dan bisa dipake buat kerja lagi.

So … ini lah alesan kenapa saya pake Mac!
Dan saya masih pake dan ngoprek Linux … but not for my desktop! ;))

Mencicipi Ayam Tulang Lunak Hayam Wuruk - Jl Gunawarman (Senopati-Blok S)

Makan siang hari ini mencoba tempat baru … yaitu Ayam Tulang Lunak Hayam Wuruk yang ada di Jln Gunawarman, kl dari arah Tendean ke arah Blok M, lewat Santa, trus belok kanan di perempatan STM Penerbangan-KFC ex Milenia … Nanti dia di sebelah kanan deket2 Prodia.

Panduan Unlock iPhone 1.1.2 (dari versi 1.0.2/1.1.1)

WARNING!
Apabila beli iPhone dan firmware nya sudah 1.1.2, iPhone belum bisa diUNLOCK sama sekali hingga saat ini. Jadi jangan tanya lagi, dan jangan nekat diapa2in! Gak bisa dengan downgrade (firmware/baseband), pokoknya BELUM BISA! TiTiK!

Syarat:
1. Pastikan iPhone berasal dari firmware 1.0.2 (ato sebelumnya) atau 1.1.1
2. Ada WiFi + koneksi internet yang bagus

Hal yang sebaiknya dilakukan sebelum mengikuti proses ini:
Virginize iPhone sesuai dengan firmware yang digunakan, caranya? Cari aja di blog ini ;))
Pastikan iPhone dalam kondisi sudah virginize, alias kembali ke LOCK (dan bukan via restore dr iTunes ya)

Proses Umumnya:
1. DFU Mode - Restore ke 1.1.2 via iTunes (Restore, BUKAN Update)
2. DFU Mode LAGI - Restore ke 1.1.1 via iTunes (nanti akan keluar error 1015) - Gunakan iNdependence 1.3 beta 2 atau iBrickr untuk restart iPhone ke normal mode
3. Lakukan jailbreak + aktivasi iPhone 1.1.1 + install AppSnapp seperti yang pernah ditulis di artikel sebelumnya.
4. Tambah Source untuk Installer dengan URL: i.unlock.no dan hacktheiphone.com/1.xml
5. Install BSD Subsystem dari kategori System (bukan yg di tempat lain ya), trus Install anySIM 1.2.1u (bukan 1.1.1) - pastikan Auto Lock nya Never - dan jalankan anySIM 1.2.1u - seharusnya sukses tapi belum bisa dipake utk nelpon, ini wajar.
6. Install OktoPrep dari kategori Tweak 1.1.1
7. Buka iTunes (gak perlu DFU Mode), lalu setting iPhone as New, lalu klik “Update” (bukan Restore) … seharusnya dia akan update ke 1.1.2
8. Setelah update berhasil, download file ini … http://conceitedsoftware.com/iphone/site/112jb.html untuk jailbreak 1.1.2 + aktivasi + Installer + SSH … wah lengkap ya ;))
9. Lalu jalankan file jailbreak.jar …. dan pilih “Jailbreak” … proses nya mayan lama … sekitar 6-10 menitan … diakhir proses, iPhone bakal restart2 sendiri … selama proses, jangan sentuh2 iPhone ato coba restart sendiri … Biarin aja!
10. Setelah proses selesai, iPhone udah bisa dipake dan bisa sync ke iTunes
11. TAPI … ternyata ada 1 proses lagi … Buka INSTALLER, kategori Tweak 1.1.2, nanti ada aplikasi iWorld.
12. Setelah selesai install iWorld, kembali ke Home dan jalankan aplikasi iWorld dan pilih negara … ya mustinya Indonesia kl pake SIM Card Indonesia :p
* kl gak dilakukan proses ini, maka iPhone bakal crash setiap masuk ke SMS dan Phone Dial *

Restore/Upgrade:
To enter recovery mode, connect the phone to the computer and press and hold the Power button (on top) and the Home button (on bottom front) simultaneously. After about 15 seconds phone will appear to turn off, release the Power button but keep holding the Home button. After about 15 seconds the computer and iTunes will detect the phone in recovery mode, and you can perform a restore. IMPORTANT: If you just click the restore button, it will restore it with the latest firmware. It’s much safer to manually select firmware instead. If you want to manually select a different firmware you can hold down SHIFT key (Windows) or Option/ALT-key (Mac) when clicking the Restore button, and it will let you choose firmware file.

Downgrade Firmware via iTunes:
1. Connect the phone to the computer and launch iTunes.
2. Restore your phone
3. You will get an error when restore is complete, just ignore it and run AppTapInstaller.exe, but iNdependence should do the same.

Downgrade the baseband:
1. Make sure Modem version, in Settings → General → About.
2. Set Settings → General → Auto Lock → Never
3. Start Installer and install BSD SubSystem found in System Category.
4. Go to Sources and tap edit and add http://i.unlock.no/
5. Now install “BB Downgrader (depends on your current baseband - point 1)” found in Unlocking Tools category. This will take around 5 minutes.
When done, restore your phone to get 1.1.1 firmware reinstalled.
When phone have been restored, you can Activate and unlock as normal.

Activate iPhone (1.1.1):
1. Make sure you have a SIM-card with PIN turned off, and power on your phone (the supplied AT&T card works fine).
On the activation screen, slide to emergency and dial: *#301# to make the phone call itself. (If the incoming call dialog quickly disappears but it keeps ringing, just dial 0 (remove *#301# first), and it will call itself)
2. Answer the call, and tap on Hold
Phone will call it self again, tap Decline. You will now be returned to the normal dialer.
3. Tap on contacts, and tap the + icon to add a new. The only info you are going to add to this contact are two URL’s. To add a URL, tap Add new URL. The first URL is prefs followed by a colon: prefs: and the second is jailbreakme.com. Tap Save.
Your contact now has two “web pages” - tap on the first one (prefs:). This will take you to the settings dialog. The reason you want this, is because you need to connect to a Wi-Fi network, so tap on Wi-Fi, and get connected to a network, and make sure the icon on top of the screen is indicating that you are connected. While you are in the settings dialog, you should also set: General → Auto-Lock → Never.
4. Now, press the home button, and again, slide to emergency dial 0, Answer the call, Hold and Decline the new call so that you get to the contacts. Tap on your contact (No Name), and this time tap on the other home page, jailbreakme.com
Safari will launch and show you a webpage. Read through the text, before you Install AppSnapp
Phone will return to activation screen, but don’t panic, just wait.
Phone should automaticly restart after almost a minute. . If it does not restart withing 2 minutes, click here.

When the phone starts again, it should no longer say Slide to emergency, but rather Slide to unlock It means it was successfull! Activation is now bypassed, and phone prepared for software installation! (If you are going to use an AT&T SIM, you won’t need to do the next step.)

Unlock the SIM-lock

1. Open installer, and install the update if prompted.
2. Go to sources and tap Edit and Add
3. Add this URL: http://i.unlock.no
4. Tap Done and then Refresh
5. Go to Install (at bottom) and scroll down to the Unlocking Tools category and install AnySIM
When installed you can press the home button, and you will find a new AnySIM icon on your home screen. Launch it and follow the instructions.

The unlocking process will take about 5-10 minutes, in the end it should say it was successful!
To clean up your phone, launch Installer and uninstall AnySIM. Then go to Settings → General → Auto-Lock and set it to a prefered value.

How to “Virginize” an unlocked phone (1.0.2)
1. Ignore all long and complex tutorials - I have set up a fully automatic script that will repair the phone so that you can upgrade it.
2. Set Settings → General → Auto Lock → Never
Make sure Modem firmware is 03.14.08_G. Check this in Settings → General → About.
3. Start Installer and update it if it asks. Tap on Sources, Edit, and Add http://i.unlock.no/ as a repository.
Make sure you have BSD Subsystem installed, if not, go to System category and install it.
4. Now, install The Virginizer found in the Unlocking Tools category. This will take about 3-5 minutes to complete.
Only use if you never updated to 1.1.1 before! (that means, only use if your Modem firmware is 03.14.08_G. Check this in Settings → General → About).

How to “Virginize” 04.01.13_G (1.1.1)
1. You would want to do this if you upgraded to 1.1.1, and now have 0049xxx IMEI, and Modem version 04.01.13_G. Check this in Settings → General → About.
2. Set Settings → General → Auto Lock → Never
3. Install BSD SubSystem found in System Category.
4. Go to Sources and tap edit and add http://i.unlock.no/ (if you haven’t already).
5. Now install “Virginize 04.x” found in Unlocking Tools category. This will take almost 10 minutes.

When done, restore your phone to get 1.1.1 firmware reinstalled.
When phone have been restored, you can Activate and unlock as normal.

Ms Office 2008 buat Mac Intel

Microsoft akhirnya mau jg bikin Office untuk Mac lagi … setelah pernah menyatakan tidak akan membuat versi mac intel buat Ms Office 2004 nya (bisa diliat/search di web site nya microsoft).

Beberapa hari yang lalu, aku download versi beta dari Microsoft Office 2008 … kurang lebih sekitar 600-700MB, dan kl ngikutin tgl skrg … Beta nya udah expired :)) Iseng2 aku ganti Bulan jadi Juni …. en akhirnya Office pun bisa dipake ;))

Tp hr ini setelah iseng googling dengan keyword “office 2008 beta crack” … ternyata dah ada juga yg bikin =)) Dasar gila!

Share Pengalaman Upgrade ke Leopard (iBook)

Setelah sukses upgrade Leopard langsung di Macbook, ternyata tidak diikuti dengan sukses pas upgrade di iBook.

Beberapa kali proses upgrade selalu gagal saat “Starting Up Leopard For The First Time” … *kayak windows aje*

* sempet sekali Kernel Panic, sempet yg layar biru ber-cursor tp gak pernah ke tampilan login .. pdhl HD bunyi2, sempet jg pas proses upgrade dibilang gagal bikin .efi *

Akhirnya, dipilih solusi tengah antara Upgrade en Clean Install … yaitu … Archive and Install ;))

Dan ternyata ini jauh lebih bersih dan aman.

Bersih karena gak bawa “kotoran” dari OS yang lama, tapi data2 masih ada … terutama data User langsung di-migrasi ke Leopard termasuk aplikasi2nya.

Rata2 Upgrade / Archive & Install butuh waktu 45 - 2 jam Yg terakhir kali … sempet ditinggal pergi makan pempek dulu en di iBook berjalan semulus saat pakai Tiger …
